The large amount of flamboyant color on this species creates a wonderful accent in a garden. Varieties can be in bush or vine form; colors vary. Once established, they tend to be carefree. All varieties are susceptible to frost damage. 'Torch Grow' grows up to 6' tall and produces deep magenta blooms with tiny white flowers in the center and is surrounded by light green, crisp looking foliage.

This plant is either a small tree or large evergreen shrub. It has a red-brownish trunk and branches that are twisted with age. The dark green leaves have red stems. It has clusters of small, white or greenish-white urn shaped flowers and small, red and yellow fruit that has a strawberry like texture from which the common name is derived. It has slow to moderate growth to 15' with the same spread. It can become damaged in severe winters.

This tender perennial is a clump-forming evergreen that produces fuzzy, yellow green flowers that bloom in spring and last for over 2 months. Many sizes and varieties are available including yellow and pink flowers.

Hawaiian Heather, False Heather

Common name:Hawaiian Heather, False Heather
Botanical name:Cuphea hyssopifolia

A shrubby dependable evergreen perennial that grows to 2' tall and 4' wide, the False Heather bears small, closely-set leaves and tiny rose red flowers. It heaviest bloom period occurs in summer, with some flowers present almost all year. The plant requires part shade to shaded conditions, with average watering. This variety does well in containers.
